Heron Goes After Fish
It was an extremely windy day and was about to get much windier. Within minutes after this picture was taken the wind grew to about 50 mph. (At least the weather station said so and I could believe it.)

Graceful Lift Off!
Before lifting off, this Heron slowly backed up onto the rock from the water as if he was planning to take off from there. I have seen them take off from the water when spooked and it is not nearly so graceful.

Time to Go
This fellow decided it was time to leave but before flying off he doubled back to fly directly over head. I think he likes having his picture taken!

Majestic in flight.
With his long legs, big feet, and long scrawny neck he can look a bit comical wading about in the water, but once in flight he is a beautiful sight to behold.
